New HR Chief at Bham BOE resigns

The Birmingham Board of Education is still looking for a new chief of the human resources department.

Board members voted unanimously to accept the resignation of recently hired HR chief Craig Bickley during Friday afternoon's special called meeting.

Bickley would have started July 26th, but questions arose when a background check showed problems.  Superintendent Craig Witherspoon apparently knew about the issues before hand, but did not tell board members.  "There were some incidents that I was aware of, and were cleared through communications that I had with references," says Witherspoon.

But the new information has several members of the board upset.  "It makes us look very bad.  I have received numerous telephone calls starting at 6am this morning, every phone call i have received the citizens are not happy, this was very very embarassing," says board member Emanuel Ford.
