TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Tony Mitchell scored 16 points and Mikhail Torrance had 13 points and 12 rebounds to help Alabama close the regular season with a 73-to-61 victory over Auburn yesterday. The Crimson Tide snapped a four-game losing streak to its in-state rival in a game that was close most of the way.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Cornelius Hester scored 18 points and Casey Cantey had 17 as Alabama A&M defeated Grambling State 81-to-60 last night. The Bulldogs earned the sixth seed in the conference tournament, which starts March 10th in Shreveport, Louisiana.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — De'Suan Dixon scored 14 points and blocked a potential game-winning shot with five seconds left in Jackson State's 60-to-59 win over Alabama State. The Tigers led 59-to-49 with 4:28 left, before the Hornets pulled within one late.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Bryan Sherrer scored 21 points and hit the game-winning shot with four seconds left yesterday as South Alabama defeated Florida Atlantic 52-to-51 in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. The Number Nine-seeded Jaguars advance to a quarterfinal matchup at 6:45 p.m. EST today against top-seeded Troy.
